About the Author:
R.D. Longmeier was born in 1947 in the farm and ranch country of Eastern Washington. During his younger years he followed the wheat harvests from Texas, north to the Dakotas, and out to the Golden Triangle of Montana.
He worked as a ranch hand and roustabout and cowboy in the Rocky Mountain states and the Pacific Northwest. In addition he worked in the silver mines of Northern Idaho. In 1969 Longmeier enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam and Japan.
Early on, he learned creative writing skills at Wenatchee Valley College. He completed course work at Texas Tech University and earned a degree in Animal Science at Washington State University.
Career paths throughout his life have led him in several different directions, which eventually put him on the road as a long haul truck driver.
He reflects back on his nomadic lifestyle, a life of joy and peril. He writes and narrates with resounding clarity and animation, reminding the listener of Americas natural beauty , our heroes, our great heritage, and all that freedom stands for.
